PROMOTION: Chartered surveyor Joe Walker is now an Associate Director with Hampshire-based commercial property consultancy Hughes Ellard.

Two commercial property professionals have been promoted at expanding consultancy Hughes Ellard in Hampshire.

Nick Miles and Joe Walker are now Associate Directors with the independent commercial property agency, which covers the Solent region.

Gary Jeffries, Managing Director, said: “Nick and Joe are excellent chartered surveyors who bring expertise and value to our clients, from landlords and occupiers to lenders and developers.

“We are very much about advancing talent within our growing company – Nick and Joe exemplify the many qualities we look for in staff and their promotions are thoroughly deserved.

“These two appointments are about nurturing a new generation of professionals as we continue to lead on digital technology and deliver market-leading services to clients across southern England.”

Hughes Ellard, which has offices at Ocean Village in Southampton and Cams Estate Business Park in Fareham, employs a record 30 staff.

The firm, established 44 years ago, provides a range of professional services.

These include sales and lettings, search and acquisition, valuation, rent review and lease renewal, asset management, building consultancy, disposals, development appraisal and investment advice.

Nick joined Hughes Ellard in 2015 as a senior building surveyor at the firm’s building consultancy arm.

His experience covers the full range of building surveying duties.  They include acquisition surveys, advising on building defects, schedules of condition, dilapidations, development monitoring and the project management of refurbishment and fit-out schemes.

Joe joined Hughes Ellard as a chartered surveyor in the same year, providing landlords, tenants and intermediaries, such as lending institutions, with a range of professional services, primarily focusing on valuation, advisory and lease consultancy.

Both employees are Members of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

Nick is also a registered Assessment of Professional Competence doctor for the South of England region, working with candidates undertaking their final assessment for the building surveying faculty.

It is the third promotion of its kind in just over a year; chartered surveyor Harnish Patel, who joined Hughes Ellard nearly seven years ago with a remit in business space and development, was made Associate Director.

Hughes Ellard was established in 1973, the year VAT came into effect in the UK, Edward Heath was the Conservative Prime Minister, inflation rose to 8.4%, the interest rate was 13%, a pint of beer cost 14p, a detached house averaged just under £17,000 and three personalities on our TV screens were born – comedian Peter Kay, presenter Dermot O’Leary and pop singer Peter Andre.
