Russell has built his career on the South coast, qualifying as a Chartered Surveyor in 1994 and becoming a partner at Hughes Ellard in 2001.
Russell has been involved with many major industrial estates and office schemes across the central south and has a talent for developing and executing creative marketing campaigns to attract tenants to new developments and failing schemes. This has led to handling schemes “from cradle to grave”, from land assembly for development, to identifying end users and selling the end created investment.
Russell has a strong client roster for tenant and owner occupier advisory work, providing strategic advice in property relocation, by getting under the skin of the client’s culture and values to better understand their property needs and implementing searches for both large scale industrial and logistics space to office headquarters, culminating in negotiating the best lease terms or purchase price and ensuring occupational timescales are adhered to. Russell comments “I strongly believe in working closely with the business community and local authorities to better understand the constraints and demands on business. Our economy is diverse, making working in commercial property very interesting , dealing with many different sectors over a wide geographic area”.
Russell is a past Chairman of Southampton Property Association (SPA) and is currently Regional Chair of the Office Agents Society, a Hampshire Chamber Southampton Business Board member and Planning and Transport committee member, as well a Trustee of Portsmouth & South East Education Business Partnership (EBP). Other passions, aside from his family, include tennis, sailing, windsurfing and more recently road cycling, competing in the Industrial Agents Society Sportive annually. He also plays the drums in the firm’s resident punk rock band “Hughe Fighters!”Back to Directory
